Wood Energy installation recognised in Health Business Awards
A state-of-the-art Binder biomass boiler installed by Wood Energy has helped United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust scoop the Sustainable Hospital Award at the Health Business Awards held in December 2009 in London.
The boiler was installed at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Lincs, and is helping the Trust achieve its pledge to reduce its carbon footprint by 30 per cent over the next five years as part of the NHS Carbon Management Programme. The Binder boiler at Pilgrim Hospital should halve the hospital's current carbon emissions of 10,000 - 12,000 tonnes a year with a highly efficient renewable heating technology that produces very little ash and minimal emissions other than water vapour.
The Sustainable Hospital Award was sponsored by Monodraught and is part of the 2009 Health Business Awards that recognise excellence across the NHS.
